Job Description

An ACD acts as creative director on designated projects, leading art directors and copywriters while providing strategic direction and insightful feedback to improve the work. Successfully sells creative ideas and concepts to clients.Mentors and develops team members.

An ACD is confident and influential. They should have a reputation for their work ethic, problem solving, conceptual thinking and developing smart, impactful creative. They should be able to foster collaboration among a team, and confidence among leadership both internally and externally.

Core Job Functions

  • Can act as a player and a coach in the development of marketing materials
  • Initiates partnerships with team members to create solutions for assignments
  • Evaluate assignments and help identify resources and expertise needed to complete projects
  • Collaborate with account and strategy leads to develop creative briefs
  • Lead creative kick-off meetings with account and strategy partners; provide direction to art directors and copywriters on roles, assignments/deliverables and timing; answer questions
  • Initiates and leads creative brainstorms
  • Throughout all stages of the creative development process, oversee art director/copywriter teams, evaluating their work, providing constructive feedback, making suggestions, and proposing alternate ways of thinking to elevate he work; ensure the overall quality and strategic accuracy of the creative product prior to internal reviews and client presentations
  • Create presentation decks; effectively present/sell the creative concepts and thinking to the client while being able to professionally and convincingly respond to feedback and challenges.
  • Work with production, directors, photographers, illustrators and/or editors throughout the production process to achieve the desired creative product as concepted

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience as an art director, preferably in an agency or in-house creative department
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite applications
  • Solid understanding of shopper and marketing principles
  • Functional knowledge of typography, layout and design principles
  • Knowledge of current trends, pop culture, current and past design themes
  • Comprehensive knowledge of client category, business, and objectives, and a clear understanding of key strategic issues impacting client’s business
  • Able to communicate clearly, thoroughly and succinctly both verbally and in writing; responds to comments, suggestions and criticisms in a constructive manner while maintaining the integrity of the creative idea; influences and/or persuades key stakeholders when necessary
  • Strong presentation skills; presents creative work, clearly explaining the assignment, creative strategy, creative idea and how it accomplishes the client’s objectives
